Empire Soul at Harry Warren House
Monday 01st August 2016
We had a fantastic gig at the beautiful Harry Warren House in Dorset last Saturday, a truly stunning location on the Dorset coast, and recently featured in The Wedding Secret as one of their featured venues.
We thought we’d let you in on a few behind-the-scenes details from this gig to show you how an Empire Soul gig comes together and how a top wedding band prepares for your special day!
At Empire Soul we have a huge repertoire of songs and we offer the choice for you to customise it further by letting us know which ones are your absolute favourites - we then tailor our set to your likes (and dislikes). Last Saturday the bride and groom had a whopping 23 songs from our repertoire that they wanted in (we normally allow about a dozen, but the songs they chose were our favourites too!!), so about a week before our bandleader Ben will put the setlist together with their favourites in.
Next comes preparing the first dance, on this occasion the couples friends were performing the couples first dance so instead we were asked to perform a song with the Bride on vocals!!! This was a lovely touch from the Bride and she sounded fantastic on the night.
On the big day we always allow extra travel time for holiday traffic, it was a lovely journey down through stunning Sandbanks, even catching the Ferry across to Swanage!! It was such a beautiful day we felt like we were going on holiday!!!
We arrived at the beautiful location and discreetly setup our PA system and lights, we then had half an hour to enjoy the gorgeous view whilst the speeches took place. Then we quickly got changed into our stage clothes and got ready for showtime!!
The crowd were brilliant, the dance floor was packed from the first song until we finished 2 hours later!!
Here's a short clip from the end of our set to give you a little taster...enjoy!
Until next time, chaps x
